It is with a heavy heart that I reminisce about Philip Coppens, who passed on December 30, 2012. Philip was a renowned researcher and author who investigated mysteries of the ancient world and esotericism. His work appeared in numerous books, documentary films, and television shows. More information about Philip’s illness and passing can be found at the web page established by his family to raise money for his medical care.
Philip appeared as our guest in Occult of Personality podcast episode 28. It was a pleasure to speak with such a knowledgeable and discerning researcher. One of the things that stood out to me about Philip’s work was his belief in the indomitable nature of the human spirit and that humanity, working together, was capable of greater feats than many give us credit for, including the construction of ancient pyramids. While the subjects Philip investigated were certainly not new, his perspective on them was, making his work stand out as a welcome change from the standard fare we usually are subjected to in this milieu.
Most recently, I read Philip’s article about Maître Philippe and couldn’t help but be impressed by his journalism and insight. Although he’s gone, Philip Coppens’ work lives on as a testament not only to his amazing life, but also to the wonder and mystery of the world in which we live. Thank you, Philip, and travel well.
The recording of his interview (originally posted on October 4, 2007) is being made publicly available for those who wish to listen again.

This is so sad. I heard Filip speak at a questing conference, but spoke to him only once via email. However I have read a lot of his work both books and articles on his website. He came across as a perfect gentleman, a good man who very very knowledgeable and worked tirelessly to spread the light of truth and knowledge. He is sadly missed, RIP and condolences to his family.
